Question 1:  Tell me a bit about Wrkit

Well Wrkit was established in 2003 as a voluntary benefits and loyalty programme provider, originally trading under a different name. At that time, we had just one product which was our Lifestyle Savings product. Since then our product portfolio has grown to meet the changing needs of our clients. The Wrkit platform now includes five modules: Lifestyle Savings, Learning, POWR (wellbeing tool), Recognition and Surveys, each of which generates data insights for HR Managers. Our mission is to help organisations cultivate healthier, happier working environments. We have a very diverse client book, serving everything from banks to construction companies, and hospitals to hotels. Currently we operate in the UK and Republic of Ireland with some clients having audiences further afield including Bahrain and the USA. Our platform is scalable to accommodate businesses of all sizes, from just 10 employees, right up to 20,000.

Question 2: What business challenges do your clients face?

We see a variety of challenges which differ from one client to the next. It seems however that every industry is impacted by the heightening competition, and without fail our client conversations touch on employee engagement, wellbeing and retention.

Question 3: What’s the first step to engage an employee?

If you consider that employee engagement is about creating an emotional connection with the individual and their place of work, then the process starts the minute you receive a CV. The recruitment and onboarding experience can massively impact how an employee see’s their place of employment, so nailing both of these stages is essential. Then it comes down to the culture and having the right tools in place to ensure each employee can work with vigour, dedication and absorption throughout their career.

Question 4: What is your top tip for a HR Manager planning their employee engagement strategy?

There is so much literature out there about best practices for engaging employees, it’s creating a sense of urgency but often we see action happening without understanding. Companies aren’t taking the necessary steps to gather feedback and make informed business decisions. My absolute top tip is to survey your workforce before, and after taking action. Employee satisfaction surveys can yield valuable insights while giving employees a voice, utilise these to paint a picture of the employee experience within your company. Gather your insights and plan relevant initiatives according to what your population want. Oh, and always seek feedback on initiatives you do run, short surveys can give you all the information you need to strive for excellence in the future.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the next Q&A where will be talking about stress, burnout in work the workplace and planning a sustainable well-being strategy.
